NutraBloom® Frequently Asked Questions

Fertility FAQ

  • If you’re trying to conceive, there are many lifestyle improvements that can help you naturally increase your chances of having a successful and healthy pregnancy. Fertility experts typically recommend:

    • Eating nutrient-rich whole foods, especially vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, healthy fats, and healthy starches (e.g. whole grains, sweet potatoes, etc.)
    • Engaging in moderate physical activity regularly
    • Reducing stress
    • Getting adequate sleep
    • Drinking plenty of water
    • Losing excess weight
    • Taking vitamins and supplements designed with fertility and reproductive health in mind

All of these habits are useful for anyone, regardless of whether you’re looking to improve your egg quality or boost your sperm health.

  • There are a lot of lifestyle factors that can hinder your ability to conceive. The most important things that both men and women should avoid when trying to get pregnant are smoking, tobacco products in general, controlled and illicit substances (including cannabis), excessive alcohol, excessive caffeine, chronic stress, extreme or intense exercise, processed foods, foods high in trans fats, and excessive sugar.

  • Vitamins and supplements are an easy way to support your fertility and reproductive health when trying to conceive. When choosing vitamins and supplement blends for fertility, look for ingredients like coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), omega-3 fatty acids, folic acid, vitamin C, and vitamin D3. If you have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), it’s recommended that you take an inositol blend, which will help regulate ovulation and improve insulin resistance. Other vitamins and supplements that are great for your fertility health routine include melatonin, multivitamins, prenatal vitamins, and probiotics.

  • It’s never too early to start preparing your body for conception and pregnancy. It’s typically recommended to start taking fertility supplements approximately three months before trying to conceive

  • Trying to conceive, or TTC, supplement kits are designed to improve your chances of getting pregnant by providing ideal dietary conditions for conception. At NutraBloom®, we have TTC supplement kits for women, men, couples, and PCOS support.

Prenatal Vitamins FAQ

  • Prenatal vitamins do not increase your chances of getting pregnant. However, they prepare your body for a healthy and safe pregnancy for you and your baby.

  • Ideally, you should begin taking prenatal vitamins at least three months before you start trying to conceive. Some doctors and nutritionists recommend six months before trying to conceive.

  • It does not matter when you take your prenatal vitamins, but it is best to take them with a meal containing healthy fats, which will improve the absorption of fat-soluble nutrients. This meal can be breakfast, lunch, or dinner – whichever is best for your routine!

  • Not taking prenatal vitamins during pregnancy can have negative effects on both mother and child. Pregnancy is physically taxing on the body and many women end up being low on key nutrients during the process. Without prenatal vitamins, it becomes more challenging for pregnant women to thrive or perform simple, everyday tasks. A lack of prenatal vitamins is also associated with a wide range of health and developmental issues for the baby, including neural tube defects.

  • Although prenatal vitamins are a vital part of pregnancy health, if you occasionally miss a day, it’s not a big deal. This is especially true if your diet consists of healthy whole foods. Just be sure to start them again as soon as possible. Also, don’t double your dosage if you missed a day, as taking too many prenatal vitamins can cause gastrointestinal distress.

  • There’s no set rule on when to stop taking prenatal vitamins, but doctors typically recommend that you continue taking them as long as you’re breastfeeding. Prenatal vitamins have been shown to provide postpartum support to mothers and nutritional support for the baby.

Supplementation for PCOS FAQ

  • Although there is no cure for PCOS, infertility associated with the condition can oftentimes be successfully managed, either through lifestyle changes or medical treatments that target ovulation and metabolic dysfunction. It’s commonly recommended that patients with PCOS adopt a PCOS-friendly diet that focuses on lean proteins, fresh produce, and whole grains, while avoiding sugary, processed, and high-trans fat foods. Exercise is also important. Together, diet and exercise can help reduce weight, improve insulin resistance, and facilitate hormonal balance.

  • Although PCOS can affect ovulation, many women with PCOS are able to conceive naturally, especially when employing healthy lifestyle habits, such as a healthy diet, supplements, and exercise.

  • Supplements containing inositol have been shown to be immensely helpful for women with PCOS. Inositol plays an important role in many bodily functions, including insulin regulation, balancing hormones, cell signaling, and more. For women with PCOS, inositol supports blood sugar levels, ovulation, and hormone levels.

Fertility and Probiotics FAQ

  • While they might not initially seem connected, gut health and fertility are inextricably linked. Your microbiome plays an important role in essentially every bodily system, including reproductive health. Gut health dysfunction and imbalances have been associated with a wide range of reproductive issues, including estrogen metabolism problems, immune system failure, and recurrent pregnancy loss.

  • When taken as part of a healthy routine, probiotics can help bring balance to the gut microbiome and improve overall function, including fertility.

  • Probiotics can be immensely helpful for patients with PCOS, and support issues such as inflammation, hormonal imbalance, and insulin resistance.
